Former NRL star Johnathan Thurston believes that South Sydney Rabbitohs player Latrell Mitchell is likely to be suspended after being sin-binned for a high tackle on Sua Fa'alogo during a game against the Melbourne Storm.
Mitchell made heavy contact with Fa'alogo's head with his shoulder, resulting in Fa'alogo failing his HIA and being ruled out for the next match against Canberra.
Despite opinions being divided on whether Mitchell should be suspended, his previous poor disciplinary record and the lateness of the hit may work against him.
Thurston commented on the incident, saying, "He comes flying in, pretty aggressively.
Direct contact to the head.
I think he does have a case to answer - it could be a couple of weeks." Andrew Johns also pointed out that Mitchell had a duty of care as Fa'alogo had already passed the ball, stating, "Latrell Mitchell just spears into Fa'alogo, who is looking for Tyran Wishart on the inside." With Mitchell's history of charges and loading from previous incidents, it is likely that he will face a suspension, possibly for multiple weeks.
