The Canterbury Bulldogs have decided to bow out of the race for Addin Fonua-Blake's contract beyond 2024, according to reports.
It comes as a surprise since the Bulldogs were considered one of the frontrunners alongside the New Zealand Warriors, who are expected to release Fonua-Blake due to compassionate reasons.
However, the Warriors managed to convince the prop to commit to the club for the 2024 season despite his initial desire for an immediate departure.
There is speculation that the Warriors might still pursue a player swap to facilitate Fonua-Blake's exit, adding intrigue to the situation.
The Bulldogs were initially joined by the Cronulla Sharks, St George Illawarra Dragons, and Wests Tigers in their pursuit of the Dally M prop of the year.
