Three Candidates Contend for Coaching Role

The selection process for the head coach of the PNG Chiefs has been whittled down to three contenders, as reported by Wide World of Sports.

In collaboration with the NRL, Chiefs' head of football Michael Cahmmas is expected to announce the new coach for the franchise's inaugural season shortly.

The competition for the role is primarily between Jason Demetriou, Brad Arthur, and Willie Peters.

Currently, Demetriou holds the position of Kumuls coach and manages the London Broncos in the Super League.

His standout halfback, Gairo Voro, is recognized as a potential playmaker for the Chiefs, with Chammas expressing interest in securing the local PNG talent.

Demetriou appears to be the frontrunner, thanks to his strong rapport with the Kumuls players and the cultural importance of the national team in Papua New Guinea.

Conversely, Brad Arthur is also a candidate, bringing a history of success from his lengthy tenure with the Parramatta Eels, where he is their longest-serving coach.

His experience encompasses a range of situations within the club-from Grand Finals to salary cap complications and even wooden spoons.

Currently coaching the Leeds Rhinos, Arthur adds a considerable depth of experience to the coaching carousel.
