Thompson's timeout: Knights hungry for a comeback

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

Newcastle Knights front-rower Leo Thompson is facing a significant suspension of one month after being charged by the Match Review Committee (MRC).

Reports from zerotackle.com indicate that Thompson, who will join the Canterbury Bulldogs next year, has been charged with a Grade 2 Crusher Tackle on Hamish Stewart.

As a result, he is looking at a four-match suspension, which could extend to five matches if he contests the charge and is found guilty, due to this being his third offense.

Commentators have provided insights into the incident, with Fox League's Michael Ennis remarking, "Oh boy, gee, Leo Thompson, crusher tackle here on the way down." Meanwhile, play-by-play commentator Andrew Voss noted, "And then gives some mustard after it, (forces) him down on the front of the neck.

A little bit to that tackle." The severity of the punishment reflects the nature of the tackle and Thompson's previous infractions.
