Halfback Thomas Weaver, one of eight players released by the Gold Coast Titans at the conclusion of the 2025 NRL season, has officially signed with a new team.
The 22-year-old, who is still early in his professional career, has inked a two-year deal with the Castleford Tigers in the Super League that will run until the end of the 2027 season.
Weaver, the fifth new player to join Castleford, made 11 appearances in the NRL since his debut in 2023. However, he struggled to secure a consistent spot in the starting lineup and primarily served as a backup playmaker.
Previously, he represented the Under-19s NSW Blues and played 39 matches in the QLD Cup for the Tweed Seagulls, where he managed to score six tries.
"My family, manager, and I had a conversation about what we thought would be the best move for me going forward with my footy," Weaver commented.
"We spoke to Chris Chester and got the opportunity to come over and play some consistent footy."
Weaver's transition to Castleford adds him to a growing list of NRL players joining the club for the upcoming season, which includes Blake Taaffe, Mikaele Ravalawaa, and Semi Valemei, who have previously played for the Canterbury Bulldogs, St George Illawarra Dragons, and North Queensland Cowboys, respectively.
