The Rabbitohs and Roosters are set to face off in their 234th meeting, renewing one of rugby league's oldest rivalries at Accor Stadium on Friday night.

The two teams have had contrasting starts to the 2025 season, with the Rabbitohs boasting a 3-1 record under the guidance of Wayne Bennett, while the Roosters are struggling at 1-3 and conceding an average of 31.5 points per game.

The Rabbitohs have improved defensively this season, giving up 21 points per game compared to 28.4ppg in 2024, but will need to step up even more to contain the Roosters' star players such as James Tedesco, Mark Nawaqanitawase, and Angus Crichton.

The Roosters have had the upper hand in recent encounters, winning their last four matchups against the Rabbitohs.

At Accor Stadium, the Roosters hold an 11-9 advantage in 20 meetings.

nrl.com.au have reported that in the lead up to the game, Latrell Mitchell has been named at centre for the Rabbitohs, while the Roosters welcome back Connor Watson and Sione Foketi to bolster their squad for the highly anticipated clash.
