Tex Hoy Seeking New Club After Leaving Knights

Tex Hoy, an ex-NRL fullback who played for the Newcastle Knights, is actively searching for a new club after reportedly leaving his current team immediately.

After two seasons with the Castleford Tigers, League Express has reported Hoy's departure, which became effective immediately due to the arrival of Blake Taaffe, a utility back from the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Hoy last competed in the NRL in 2022 before moving overseas to join Hull FC. He spent two seasons there before transferring to the Tigers in 2024, where he made 35 appearances and scored 92 points (comprising 13 tries and 20 goals).

While his next move remains uncertain, the 26-year-old may consider returning to Australia or continuing his career abroad.

A former member of the U20s NSW Blues team, Hoy progressed through the Knights' junior ranks, starting from the Harold Matthews Cup to the Jersey Flegg Cup. He played 29 games for the Knights from 2020 to 2022, accumulating 50 points through five tries and 15 goals.
