In a twist of fate, Tevita Pangai Jnr has swerved away from Wayne Bennett's tempting $2 million offer to join the Dolphins, opting instead to follow his heart back to the Broncos.
The former Bulldogs star, well-known for his hard-hitting style on the field, has his sights set on reuniting with his mate Payne Haas - a combo that could spell trouble for their opponents.
Despite entertaining talks with Bennett, including discussions over his booming boxing career and general life musings, Pangai ultimately decided that a return to the Broncos was where his true loyalties lie.
The Tongan international, who is ready to rumble in a Saturday night fight against Raphael Sa'u, made it clear that his decision was not taken lightly.
"I still haven't given Wayne the news, but I've always had my sights set on going home to the Broncos," Pangai revealed.
"I reckon they're the right match for me at this point, with a bit of unfinished business to attend to.
If it's not the Broncos, then I'll keep throwing punches in the ring.
I don't want to lead the Dolphins on or play games - they deserve someone fully committed.
My heart's set on the Broncos, and that's where I aim to give my all." With that kind of determination, the Broncos should be ready for a powerful return from their prodigal son.
