Terrell May is emerging as a crucial candidate for selection in the State of Origin, as noted by league legend Bryan Fletcher.

With NSW coach Laurie Daley not guaranteeing a spot for current captain Jake Trbojevic, May's impressive performance this season has placed him front and center in the discussion.

Playing for the Wests Tigers, May is currently second on the Dally M leaderboard and has been a standout player, particularly showcased in a recent golden point win over Cronulla.

Reports indicate that May has averaged 39 tackles and 181 running meters per game over eight matches, highlighting both his work rate and defensive prowess.

Fletcher emphasizes, "He has to have done enough (to play Origin).

Probably the biggest thing for him is that he doesn't miss tackles...

in Origin you have to look at defence because we're not going to score many points." May's tackle efficiency is notable, with only five missed tackles out of 319 attempts, leading to a remarkable 98.4% success rate.

Fletcher adds, "I don't know how he can sustain this...

maybe when he starts getting a couple of niggling injuries but right now, he doesn't look tired." This comment underscores May's exceptional fitness, as Tigers coach Benji Marshall playfully noted that May was upset over being rested briefly during the match against the Sharks.

With standout performances this season, many expect May to be lined up alongside Payne Haas as one of the starting props for NSW.

Other competitors like Max King, Spencer Leniu, and Mitch Barnett also hope to secure spots in the Origin squad.

With his current form and impressive stats, Terrell May is increasingly viewed as a must-pick for Daley and the Blues.
