In what some are calling a classic case of foot-in-mouth disease, Sydney Roosters forward Terrell May has found himself in a bit of a ruckus over a two-word comment he made on Instagram following the fiery State of Origin clash.

Teammate Joseph Sua'ali'i made headlines as the sixth player in Origin history to receive an early shower after a bone-crunching tackle on Broncos' Reece Walsh only minutes into the game.

Sua'ali'i later took to social media to express his mixed emotions, with May's comment causing quite a stir.

While Sua'ali'i focused on regrouping and moving forward, May's comment of "HIS [sic] DEAD" sparked controversy and left many scratching their heads.

The online reaction was as fast as a winger on a breakaway, with fans and commentators throwing around their opinions like a game of hot potato.

In a sport where words can carry as much weight as a meaty hit to the ribcage, May's comment was met with raised eyebrows and stern words from both fans and the rugby league community.

Time will tell if this blunder will be forgotten like yesterday's news or if it will linger like a stubborn opponent on match day.
