The Kangaroos have triumphed in the Pacific Championships final, but one NRL star has been dubbed a 'hog' by fans for failing to score more tries.

The Australian Kangaroos emerged victorious over Tonga with a score of 20-14, seeking redemption after a tough defeat in last year's final showdown.

Tonga made the first mark on the scoreboard with a brilliant finish by Sione Katoa in the corner, but the Kangaroos took the lead 14-4 at halftime with impressive tries from wingers Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Xavier Coates.

Although they held a significant lead, the Kangaroos could have dominated even more if not for missed tryscoring opportunities by Tom Trbojevic towards the end of the first half.

Trbojevic seized his chance in the 35th minute, receiving a pass from Tom Dearden after the Kangaroos' five-eighth outwitted Tonga's defence with a classic dummy play.

In a moment of determination, Trbojevic attempted to score once more shortly after, but was thwarted by Tongan centre and teammate from Manly, Tolutau Koula, as he tried to bulldoze his way over the line.
