In a move akin to a captain calling the shots on the field, Tonga has named Jason Taumololo as co-captain for the upcoming Pacific Championships, as reported by the folks at cowboys.com.au.

Panthers dynamo Paul Alamoti has earned his spot in the Tongan squad due to his stellar performances in the finals.

He will join the team in their battles against Australia and New Zealand in the upcoming tournament.

The Tongans will kick off their campaign against the Kangaroos at the hallowed grounds of Suncorp Stadium on October 18, before taking on the Kiwis at Go Media Stadium on November 3.

The team will be led by the dynamic duo of Taumololo and Addin Fonua-Blake.

Dolphins maestro Isaiya Katoa is set to bring his playmaking skills to the halves alongside Huddersfield's Tui Lolohea, the lone Super League returnee in the squad.

The forward pack is a formidable force, featuring the likes of Taumololo, Fonua-Blake, Keaon Koloamatangi, Haumole Olakau'atu, Eli Katoa, and Felise Kaufusi.

The squad also includes Bulldogs-bound Sitili Tupouniua, Roosters' Siua Wong, exciting Cowboys prospect Kulikefu Finefeuiaki, Manly's Taniela Paseka, Rabbitohs' Siliva Havili, and Penrith's Soni Luke among others.

The backline boasts standout rookie Lehi Hopoate, who follows in the footsteps of his brother Will, a former Tonga captain.

Joining him are Sea Eagles speedster Tolu Koula, Dragons powerhouse Mosese Suli, Roosters flyer Daniel Tupou, Cronulla's Sione Katoa, Alamoti, and Eels recruit Isaiah Iongi.

With a lineup like this, Tonga is primed to take on the best teams in the Pacific Championships and make their mark in the annals of Rugby League history.
