Dual international Murray Taulagi is reportedly considering leaving the North Queensland Cowboys as he searches for a new contract and is now free to negotiate with other teams.
Since making his NRL debut in 2019, Taulagi has established himself as a formidable player, netting 61 tries in 108 matches.
The Cowboys are looking to make substantial changes to their roster in the coming seasons to improve their standing and ensure head coach Todd Payten retains his position. Payten has already revamped his entire coaching staff and has signed Reed Mahoney from the Canterbury Bulldogs for the 2026 season. Additionally, he has shown interest in Sydney Roosters halfback Hugo Savala, who has indicated he will explore his market value.
As the Cowboys seek to bring in new talent, it is likely that some existing players will be let go to create salary cap space. This includes winger Murray Taulagi.
"Last I heard, he was leaving," News Corp's Brent Read mentioned on social media, in response to inquiries about the Cowboys' intentions to re-sign the dual international beyond his current contract.
This speculation follows reports from October indicating that the Cowboys had not initiated discussions with the talented winger, who has represented Australia, Samoa, and the Queensland Maroons several times.
