Taukeiaho Eyes Tongan Recall

Veteran prop Siosiua Taukeiaho has expressed his desire to return to the Tongan national team for the upcoming Pacific Championships against Samoa and New Zealand, as reported by seaeagles.com.au.

Currently playing a vital role in Manly's quest for a finals spot, Taukeiaho was instrumental in establishing Tonga as a formidable international team during the 2017 World Cup, alongside notable players like Jason Taumalolo and Andrew Fifita.

He notably led Tonga in the Sipi Tau before their historic victory over Australia in 2019, which ended in a surprising 16-12 scoreline.

However, since the last World Cup in 2022, Taukeiaho has not donned the Tongan jersey due to a series of challenges.

His stint at Catalans was marred by a Lisfranc injury, limiting him to just 10 games, including the 2023 Super League grand final.

This injury also jeopardized a contract with the Bulldogs, leading him to believe that his NRL career was finished.

Fortunately, Manly gave him another chance, and Taukeiaho is now experiencing a revival as the Sea Eagles win three consecutive matches, reigniting his hopes for a Tongan return.
