Rookie of the Year candidate Savelio Tamale has begun negotiations for a new contract following a stellar start to the 2025 NRL season, as reported by zerotackle.com.

Since joining the Raiders at the beginning of the season, Tamale has emerged as one of their top performers, contributing significantly to the team's ascent to second place on the NRL ladder.

The 20-year-old winger has not only played every match but has also scored six tries, made 76 tackle busts, and achieved 15 line-breaks, averaging 165 running metres per game.

Previously part of the St George Illawarra Dragons, Tamale's current contract with the Raiders extends through the end of 2026.

However, the club is keen to extend this agreement until the conclusion of the 2028 NRL season.

This strategic move comes ahead of his eligibility to enter the open market on November 1, which may attract interest from several teams, including the upcoming Perth Bears, set to join the league in 2027.
