From Bears to Broncos: Talty's rapid road to finals footy
Just three months ago, Ben Talty was playing for the North Sydney Bears in the NSW Cup, but he is now poised to conclude his season competing in the finals with the Brisbane Broncos.
The 26-year-old, hailing from the Hawkesbury region, has primarily navigated his rugby league career in Newcastle and North Sydney. Throughout that journey, he often faced suggestions that he was on the brink of making his NRL debut, yet he never received that opportunity.
That situation changed when the Broncos reached out to him.
After making his debut against the Bulldogs on July 4, Talty has not looked back. He has accumulated seven NRL appearances this season, in addition to 13 matches with Norths and three with the Burleigh Bears in the Queensland Cup.
His ascension in the sport has been supported by head coach Michael Maguire, a mentor who boasts a premiership-winning background and has also led New South Wales to State of Origin success.
