Mark Nawaqanitawase drew the loudest cheers at the Roosters' celebration after scoring twice in his final game before returning to rugby union.

After two standout seasons, the winger heard fans chant for him to stay another year.

Thousands of supporters gathered at the SCG on Monday morning to welcome home the NRL and NRLW champions.

The players joined them at 10am, having celebrated since the final whistle.

The men secured the club's 16th title, while the women claimed their third grand final win after an undefeated season.

It was the first time both Roosters teams won their grand finals in the same year.

Brisbane had achieved the double the previous year, making the Roosters only the second club to do so.

NRLW coach John Strange said, "Outstanding result for the girls and obviously the boys getting the win as well,"

"Great for the club, first time ever, so I couldn't be prouder. " Strange added.

Strange delighted the crowd with a dance, while NRL coach Trent Robinson also celebrated, having now won all four of his grand finals.

Captain James Tedesco, who received the Clive Churchill Medal, thanked supporters who had faced strong backing for Newcastle's underdogs.

"Big thanks for the way you've supported us all year, couldn't do it without you," Tedesco said.

After singing the team song, players departed on a decorated open-air double-decker bus.
