Newcastle have retained the squad that defeated Penrith on Sunday, with coach Justin Holbrook keeping Francis Manuleleua and Jermaine McEwen as starting edge forwards instead of promoting Dylan Lucas.
The Knights named Phoenix Crossland at hooker on Tuesday, but he is expected to give way to Harrison Graham at kick-off while facing suspension for a hip-drop tackle on Nathan Cleary.
Connor Watson's availability is less certain: the Roosters utility forward needs independent medical clearance to play in Sunday's NRL grand final.
Watson was ruled out of Friday's preliminary final victory over the Dolphins after suffering a concussion minutes after entering the match. The final falls within the NRL's mandatory 11-day stand-down period.
Roosters coach Trent Robinson named the 30-year-old in jersey 14 on Tuesday. Sources close to Watson said he was progressing well and was symptom-free.
If denied clearance, Watson would become the first player to miss a grand final because of a concussion sustained in a preliminary final. He is leaving the Roosters for St George Illawarra next season.
Newcastle captain Kalyn Ponga, Watson's former Knights teammate, said: "I definitely feel for him for two reasons: he's one of the hardest working blokes that I've ever known."
"The amount of hard work that he's put in, especially with injuries over the last three, four years, he deserves to be in a grand final."
"On the flip side, and I'm sure he is, but you have to look after your head because your brain is so important."
If Watson cannot play, the Roosters are likely to bring reserve hooker Benaiah Ioelu onto the interchange as cover for Reece Robson.
