Owen Trout, currently a forward in the Super League, is focusing on the upcoming 2025 Ashes Series but is also eyeing a potential future move to the NRL.

As he enters the peak of his career, Trout has significantly improved his game this season, earning his place as a key player for the Leigh Leopards under coach Adrian Lam.

His standout performances have led to his first call-up to England's national team for the Ashes Series against Australia in 2025.

With his contract expiring at the end of 2026, Trout can begin discussions with other clubs as of December 1. He shared his ambition of following in the footsteps of other Super League players who have made the jump to the NRL.

"I'd love to go over there (to Australia) and have a crack," Trout told Love Rugby League.

"I'm contracted with Leigh next year, so that's my main focus, but it'll be a good step in the right direction if I do get a chance to play against the Aussies (in the Ashes)."

Trout reflects on how competing against top talent will provide insight into his capabilities in the NRL. "I suppose I'll know how I'd fare really in the NRL (after the Ashes). I'm really looking forward to it. When you start playing against the best, it brings out the best in you as well."
