Super League is celebrating its 30th anniversary, which is an occasion for both festivity and reflection. Leading up to the celebrations, it's important to be well-informed about the upcoming events surrounding Super League 2026.

As reported by skysports.com, Super League serves as the premier European competition for rugby league, originating in 1996. It began with 11 teams from the Rugby Football League's first division alongside new entrant Paris Saint-Germain, marking the beginning of summer rugby.

With the 2026 season, Super League will reach its milestone 30th year and enter its 31st season, having hosted 28 Grand Finals thus far.

Among the 24 clubs that have participated in Super League, only FIVE teams have clinched the coveted Grand Final title: Wigan Warriors (7 wins), St Helens (9 wins), Bradford Bulls (3 wins), Leeds Rhinos (8 wins), and Hull KR (1 win) following their successful treble last season.

To simplify the game's rules, rugby league is played with two teams of 13 players. Each team has six tackles to attempt to score before possession shifts to the other team. Matches last for 80 minutes, divided into two halves of 40 minutes each.
