Ruan Sims and Alicia-Kate Hawke have been named as assistant coaches to head coach John Strange for the Westpac NSW Blues Women in 2025.
This announcement comes as the women's State of Origin is set to be played across three matches for only the second time, with NSW hosting two games.
The series will kick off with Game One at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on May 1, followed by Game Two at Sydney's Allianz Stadium on May 15, and Game Three at Newcastle's McDonald Jones Stadium on May 29.
Ruan Sims, a seasoned assistant coach, will be entering her fourth year in the role.
She has previously coached the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in the Harvey Norman NSW Women's premiership in 2023, led NSW Country to back-to-back victories over City in 2022 and 2023, and served as an assistant coach to Tony Herman during the Sharks' run to the 2024 NRLW Grand Final.
These experiences have undoubtedly prepared Sims for her new role as an assistant to head coach John Strange for the upcoming Origin series.
The addition of Alicia-Kate Hawke to the coaching staff further strengthens the team.
Both Hawke and Sims will be working closely with head coach John Strange to prepare the team for what promises to be an exciting series.
The opportunity to work together on such a significant stage is a testament to their dedication and expertise in the sport.
With the series set to unfold in May, fans can look forward to witnessing the collective efforts of Strange, Sims, and Hawke as they guide the Westpac NSW Blues Women in their quest for victory.
The trio's combined knowledge and strategic approach will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the team's performance on the field.
As they work towards achieving success in a challenging and competitive environment, the coaching staff remains focused on supporting and guiding the players to reach their full potential.
