In Round 13 of the Jersey Flegg Cup, the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles faced a significant defeat against the Melbourne Storm, losing 52-12 at 4 Pines Park.
The match began poorly for Manly, who quickly surrendered possession due to an error.
Melbourne took advantage of this when prop K-Ci Newton-Whare scored in the second minute, giving them an early 6-0 lead.
Manly's captain Broden Konz responded positively by scoring a try just five minutes later, leveling the score at 6-all after he spun out of a tackle to ground the ball.
However, the game turned decisively in favor of Melbourne, who scored four tries in an explosive 18-minute stretch, establishing a commanding 26-6 lead by halftime.
The second half saw further misfortune for Manly, as they were denied two potential tries in the opening minutes due to rulings that the ball hadn't been grounded.
This lack of momentum allowed Melbourne to capitalize once again, as they added four more tries over the next 23 minutes to extend their lead to 46-6.
Eventually, Manly managed to score a late consolation try, but ultimately, they suffered a heavy defeat.
