The Melbourne Storm have received a big boost with the early return of key players Cameron Munster and Nick Meaney for their upcoming trial against North Queensland at Casey Field.
Coach Craig Bellamy is thrilled to have these two crucial players back in action sooner than expected.
Munster, the star five-eighth, and Meaney, a versatile backline weapon, both suffered hip injuries in the off-season and were originally slated to miss the start of the NRL season.
However, their recovery has progressed quicker than anticipated, and they are now set to feature in Sunday's match.
Another player coming back from a hip operation, hooker Bronson Garlick, is also likely to take the field after his return in last week's trial against the New Zealand Warriors.
"Last week, we didn't think we'd have Munster, Meaney, and Garlick all available for this match, but they've all pulled through and are eager to get out there," Bellamy said.
"Meaney was a bit of a question mark until midway through the week, but he's put in a solid week of training."
The Storm will be looking to make the most of having their key players back in action as they gear up for the start of the NRL season.
Sunday's trial will be a crucial opportunity for the team to fine-tune their gameplay and ensure they are firing on all cylinders come game day.
