The Melbourne Storm have provided an update on two of their players, revealing that Jonah Pezet will be out for an extended period due to a new knee injury while Jahrome Hughes may not be ready to return this week.

Pezet, who had previously suffered an ACL injury last season, returned to play for the North Sydney Bears but had to leave the game early due to another knee injury.

It has been confirmed that he will require surgery on his knee, with an expected recovery time of eight to twelve weeks.

Melbourne's director of football, Frank Ponissi, praised Pezet for his positive attitude in dealing with the setback, saying, "I want to give Jonah a massive wrap for the manner in which he has managed this latest setback.

He's remained positive throughout and will work hard to get himself back playing."

As for Hughes, who is recovering from a broken hand, there is uncertainty surrounding his return this weekend.

Ponissi did not confirm whether Hughes would be available for the upcoming game, stating that his status is still up in the air.

The Storm will continue to monitor Hughes' progress and make a decision based on his recovery.

Overall, the team is facing challenges with injuries to key players but remains optimistic about their ability to overcome these setbacks.

Ponissi emphasized the importance of a positive mindset in dealing with injuries, highlighting Pezet's resilience as an example for the rest of the team.

The Storm will be looking to support Pezet and Hughes in their recovery efforts and hope to have both players back on the field as soon as possible.
