The Melbourne Storm are licking their wounds after a tough 14-12 loss to the Newcastle Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Captain Harry Grant took some responsibility for the lack of control and cohesion on the field.
This defeat marks Melbourne's first loss of the season, following wins against the Panthers and Warriors.
The Storm also suffered a loss to the Knights in Newcastle last year, adding to the sting of this recent defeat.
Both teams struggled with handling errors and completing their sets, but the Knights managed to sneak ahead with two quick tries in the first half.
Despite their best efforts, Storm halves Jonah Pezet and Tyran Wishart couldn't quite spark the necessary comeback.
In the absence of key playmakers Munster and Hughes, the young halves did their best but were unable to capitalize on attacking opportunities.
The Storm now have some work to do to bounce back from this setback.
