Penrith coach Ivan Cleary has confirmed that Jarome Luai will be playing in the team's preliminary final match against the Melbourne Storm.

Cleary expects Luai to be targeted in defense due to his recent shoulder injury.

Luai dislocated his shoulder in Round 26 but has made a remarkable recovery in just four weeks.

Positive scans following the injury gave Cleary confidence in Luai's ability to return for the crucial match.

The Panthers will also benefit from the return of centre Izack Tago and the availability of halfback Nathan Cleary, who had a precautionary scan on a finger injury.

Cleary expressed his relief at the positive scan results and emphasized that this game was always the target for Luai's return.
