Melbourne Storm has unveiled a Multicultural Warm-Up tee designed to celebrate the club's culturally diverse community.
The tee, to be worn by players in Rounds 5 and 6, represents the rich heritage of Storm's players and supporters, promoting unity and inclusion both on and off the field.
Designed by Joseph Masi of Studio 11X, the tee not only honors the cultural diversity of Storm's Māori and Pasifika athletes but also showcases the experiences of seven young people from diverse backgrounds living in Victoria.
Through the club's partnership with the Centre For Multicultural Youth, these young individuals shared their stories of connecting with their culture and growing up in Victoria, which influenced the tee's design.
The tee features nine symbols representing Māori, Pasifika, and First Nations players, as well as the cultural backgrounds of the seven youth involved in the design process.
The design elements aim to highlight heritage, unity, and cultural pride.
The weaving paths on the jersey symbolize the merging of different cultures into one, reflecting the strength of community and shared identity.
Joseph's discussions with the young people were instrumental in shaping the design to authentically reflect their voices and perspectives on cultural empowerment and representation.
The unveiling of the Multicultural tee underscores Storm's commitment to celebrating diversity and promoting inclusivity within the club and its broader community.
By showcasing the unique heritage and experiences of its players and supporters, Storm aims to foster a sense of belonging and connection among individuals from various cultural backgrounds.
The Multicultural Warm-Up tee serves as a powerful symbol of the club's dedication to honoring and embracing diversity, both on and off the field.
