‘Papenhuyzen got this very, very wrong’: Storm star facing ban over ugly hip-drop tackle

Storm fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen is facing a potential spell on the bench after a controversial move on Friday night that has him in hot water.

Papenhuyzen brought down Bulldogs winger Josh Addo-Carr with a hip-drop tackle straight from the Rugby League playbook.

The incident, which went unnoticed during the game, has caught the attention of the match review committee and Papenhuyzen could find himself on the wrong side of a suspension.

Despite rookie NRL referee Wyatt Raymond missing the tackle, Addo-Carr's quick recovery may not be enough to save Papenhuyzen from punishment.

The replays show a clear violation of the rules, and similar actions in the past have resulted in lengthy suspensions for other NRL players.

"Ryan Papenhuyzen made a big mistake with that tackle on Josh Addo-Carr," remarked Fox League expert Yvonne Sampson.

In the fast-paced world of Rugby League, one wrong move can change the game in an instant.

Papenhuyzen now faces the daunting prospect of sitting on the sidelines as a result of his actions.
