"He is a priority": Melbourne Storm star Harry Grant is currently in talks with the club regarding his future, despite facing a major salary cap dilemma in the Victorian capital.
It's no secret that the Storm's salary cap is feeling the strain, a common challenge for teams with a star-studded roster.
Grant, along with Ryan Papenhuyzen, Cameron Munster, and Jahrome Hughes, are key players in their respective positions in the spine, while players like Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Tui Kamikamica, and Xavier Coates are all commanding substantial contracts.
However, this hurdle won't deter the Storm, who are also negotiating with Papenhuyzen about his future as a fullback, from seeking to secure Grant on a long-term contract.
Owner Matt Tripp shared with News Corp that their ultimate goal is for Grant to stay with the Storm for the remainder of his career, potentially becoming a one-club player unless he goes on a loan spell at the Wests Tigers.
This move would solidify his place in Storm history, akin to a veteran player leading the younger generation on the field.
