Renowned South Australian trainer Phillip Stokes is once again making his mark in Adelaide, this time with his eyes set on Group 1 glory at Morphettville.
Stokes, a proud croweater hailing from a cattle station in Marree, has two formidable contenders in Stretan Angel and Climbing Star for the prestigious $1 million Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m).
Having dominated the SA trainer premierships for four consecutive years at his Morphettville base, Stokes then ventured to Victoria to establish a stable in Pakenham in 2019.
Despite now residing in the southern state, Stokes's heart remains true to South Australia, where his roots lie.
"I may be labeled a Victorian now, but deep down, I'm still a croweater," Stokes remarked with a hint of nostalgia.
The seasoned trainer, who tasted success in the 2021 Sangster with Instant Celebrity, is no stranger to the thrill of high-stakes races and is poised to once again showcase his expertise on the elite stage.
