Warrington Wolves have officially announced that former England head coach Steve McNamara will be part of Sam Burgess' coaching team for the upcoming 2026 season.

The 54-year-old recently departed from Catalans Dragons after nearly eight years, and he joins Warrington following their eighth-place finish in Super League this year.

McNamara previously served as England's head coach from 2010 to 2015, after a four-year stint at Bradford Bulls. He has also taken on coaching positions in the NRL with both the Sydney Roosters and New Zealand Warriors.

His coaching achievements include winning the Grand Final during his first season with the Bulls, and notably, leading the Dragons to their first Challenge Cup victory over Warrington in 2018.

"I'm pleased to be joining Warrington and working with Sam and the rest of the staff. The club has huge potential, especially with the number of talented young players coming through," McNamara noted.

He added, "My aim is to bring my experience to help the group keep improving and to build consistency in how we train, prepare and perform."
