There are hints of a surprise international switch for the State of Origin in 2027, as the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) considers changing the venue.
ARLC chairman Peter V'landys is known for his ambition to expand the sport's reach globally, especially with a lucrative TV deal potentially in play. This has set the stage for the possibility of hosting an Origin match in New Zealand in 2027.
In comments made to the Daily Telegraph, V'landys discussed the prospect of moving Origin to New Zealand.
"Yes, that is something we are looking at," he revealed.
"Next year we're going to the MCG and then 2027 is available, so Origin in New Zealand is on the hit list."
