This Star Who 'Used to Hate' the Storm Could Lead Them to Another Premiership

Jahrome Hughes has revealed a surprising truth about his past: he once disliked seeing Melbourne win.

His feelings weren't due to any animosity towards their players or coach Craig Bellamy; rather, he became weary of watching their continued success during his childhood.

"I remember, I actually used to hate the Storm because they were so good," Hughes shared this week.

This Sunday, he will compete in his third grand final in six seasons with the Storm, aiming for a second premiership alongside the one he earned in 2020.

Melbourne leads the NRL era with a total of 12 grand finals, significantly ahead of the next closest team, the Sydney Roosters.

The upcoming championship match against Brisbane will also be a milestone for Craig Bellamy, marking his 11th grand final as a coach, which surpasses Wayne Bennett for the most in NRL history.

After joining the Storm in 2017, Hughes quickly understood the factors that contributed to the success he once envied.

"I've got a lot of respect for Craig and what he's done," Hughes stated.
