Stan Martin, a notable figure in rugby league, has sadly passed away at the age of 72. His influence spanned multiple roles, including player, head coach, and manager.

Beginning his career as a dummy-half, Martin gained recognition at local and regional levels. He achieved a significant milestone in 1980 when he was named Auckland Rugby League's Player of the Year, after which he transitioned into a coaching role.

Throughout his coaching career, Martin led several representative teams, including the Junior Kiwis, the Cook Islands during the 2000 Rugby League World Cup, and the Kiwi Ferns at the Women's RLWC in 2008.

In addition to his coaching achievements, he was an accredited agent and established Sports Vision Management in 2002. The agency represents several notable NRL stars, such as Brandon Smith, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Deine Mariner, and Erin Clark.

"It is with great sadness to inform you all of the passing of the foundation SVM founder, Stan Martin," a statement read on social media.

"Stan passed peacefully this morning with his whanau at his bedside in Auckland Hospital at 9.35am this morning."
