Kotoni Staggs is making a strong case for his inclusion in the Kangaroos squad for the upcoming Ashes series, especially after a notable performance against the Rabbitohs in a recent 60-14 victory.

His exceptional play, including two tries and crucial tackles, reminded fans and coaches alike of his potential, particularly under the guidance of former coach Kevin Walters, who is now in charge of the national team.

Staggs garnered praise not only for his scoring ability but also for his defensive efforts, notably chasing down Bayleigh Bentley-Hape after an intercept, which left commentators in awe.

His recent form has been impressive, especially in the past eight rounds, positioning him as a strong contender for the centre spot, particularly as discussions arise about the futures of other incumbents.

Reports suggest that Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow may switch his allegiance to Samoa, potentially opening up a spot for Staggs in the green and gold.

Tom Trbojevic, who has recently been moved to the centres for the Manly Sea Eagles due to a decline in form, continues to face scrutiny, especially following a poor defensive outing against the Bulldogs.

This has cast doubt on his selection for the national side.

Corey Parker, an NRL great, previously recommended Staggs as one of his centre choices for the Kangaroos, alongside Knights centre Bradman Best.

Parker expressed skepticism about Trbojevic returning to his former self, choosing to exclude him from his current Kangaroos predictions.

While he also left out Latrell Mitchell from his proposed lineup, it appears Mitchell could return earlier than expected.

As Staggs continues to shine, he solidifies his position to represent Australia in the Ashes series later this year.
