St Helens Coach Eyes England Role

PAUL ROWLEY 110226

Paul Rowley, the head coach of St Helens, has shown a keen interest in the vacant England head coach position, stating he has a "burning desire" to lead his country.

Currently, England lacks a head coach following Shaun Wane's resignation after six years at the helm.

Wane's exit followed a disappointing 3-0 Ashes loss last October, where Australia dominated England in all three Test matches.

With the Rugby League World Cup approaching this autumn, the search for his successor is in full swing, complicated by Willie Peters' upcoming move to the PNG Chiefs starting in 2027.

"As a coach I have a burning desire to coach England."

Hull KR's head coach, Peter, was initially seen as a likely candidate but has since withdrawn from consideration after stepping down as Kangaroos assistant coach.
