St George Illawarra need a long-term hooker, while Jacob Liddle is contracted only through 2028.
Liddle turns 31 next year and has sustained several injuries during his career.
Fox Sports reported the Dragons signed Parramatta prospect Lachlan Coinakis after his release from an Eels contract running to 2027.
He has yet to play NSW Cup or make his NRL debut, and may be on a train-and-trial deal.
At Parramatta, Coinakis was behind NRL hookers Tallyn Da Silva, Ryley Smith and Harrison Edwards.
He won the 2023 ASSRL Under-18 national title with ACCC and the 2024 Peter Mulholland Cup with Patrician Brothers Blacktown.
In 2024, he was also the Australian Schoolboys hooker.
He played in Parramatta's 2024 and 2025 SG Ball sides, losing the final 33-26 to the Roosters after leading by eight late.
Coinakis also appeared for the Eels in Jersey Flegg, where they finished seventh this season.
