Reece Walsh has found himself at the center of controversy once again due to a peculiar video that has brought negative attention to both the Broncos fullback and his club. Veteran NRL commentator Andrew Voss expressed that this incident could be a significant concern for one of Walsh's key sponsors, Musashi, an Australian sports nutrition company. Walsh is set to represent them as a brand ambassador starting in 2024.

The controversy erupted on Monday night when Walsh shared a video of himself amusingly drinking from a toilet in his home, which he is currently renovating. The act was perceived as a 'poor attempt at humour' by the Brisbane club, with Walsh joking about the supposed recovery benefits of toilet water he drank after scooping it with his hands.

"They reckon there is a new form of recovery, to recover the muscles," Walsh stated in the video before reaching into the toilet bowl. "They reckon if you just fill with water... and get a little drink," he added before downing some of the water.

"Brisbane Broncos are aware of a video posted by Reece Walsh on a social media platform," the club's statement noted. "The club can clarify that Walsh is currently renovating his home and has installed a brand-new toilet in a new bathroom which remains unused. The video represents a poor attempt at humour posted privately by Walsh. No one should take this video seriously or act upon the advice."

Walsh has faced scrutiny previously for other social media antics; a notable example being a May TikTok video where he was seen punching a friend with a boxing glove. Voss emphasized that this latest debacle could particularly alarm sponsors like Musashi, who relies on Walsh's reputation in campaigns focusing on muscle recovery and hydration.
