Hannah Southwell, a forward for St George Illawarra, has shared that her motivation to return to the club was largely driven by her desire to play alongside captain and halfback Raecene McGregor.

According to nrl.com.au, Southwell had previously captained the Knights from 2022 until last season and was part of the Dragons' initial roster in 2018, joining McGregor and female football manager Sam Bremner.

In 2021, Southwell and McGregor came together again, helping the Sydney Roosters achieve premiership success against St George Illawarra, and their friendship has remained strong since then.
