Smith's Injury Concerns Before Key Match

Billy Smith runs with the ban under his left arm in a Sydney Roosters vs Rabbitohs NRL match.

In a concerning turn of events, Sydney Roosters centre Billy Smith finds himself uncertain for the upcoming match against the Rabbitohs after an e-bike accident occurred close to the club's headquarters.

The 26-year-old player was being evaluated by the medical team on Thursday afternoon following the incident that occurred in Moore Park.

Despite his history of injuries since his debut in 2019, Smith expressed confidence that he had not sustained any major injuries.

However, the timing of the accident is less than ideal with the match just around the corner.

It is common for Roosters players to use electric scooters and bikes to navigate the Moore Park area, as the training fields are notably distant from the gym located at the Sydney Football Stadium.

Momentarily shifting focus from South Sydney's Alex Johnston, who is aiming to surpass Ken Irvine's longstanding try-scoring record, Smith's accident has drawn some attention.

Johnston only requires one try against the Roosters to match Irvine's record of 212 career tries, while scoring twice would set a new record that has been intact since 1969.

"We don't want him (Johnston) to score any tries," Roosters coach Trent Robinson stated on Thursday.

"That hasn't been brought up because the job is to allow no tries on that edge."
