In a bombshell move, Queensland coach Billy Slater is set to shake things up for Origin 1, with reports suggesting he's ready to snub David Fifita in favor of some fresh faces in the Maroon jersey.

Tom Dearden is rumored to step up for Cameron Munster in the No.6 role, while Selwyn Cobbo could see some action off the bench.

The news comes hot on the heels of NSW Blues coach Michael Maguire dropping a bombshell of his own, naming six debutants in his squad for the series opener.

Slater is facing some tough decisions with a few key players dealing with injuries ahead of the Accor Stadium showdown.

With major names like Munster, Gilbert, and Fa'asuamalaeui out of action, the Maroons are facing an uphill battle in Game 1.

There's no denying the challenge ahead for Queensland, but with Slater at the helm, anything is possible.

As they say in the world of Rugby League, it's not over until the final whistle blows.
