Pacific Championships: Johnson Speaks Up on Possible Kiwis Comeback

Former NRL sensation Shaun Johnson has finally broken his silence on the possibility of making a return for the New Zealand Kiwis at the upcoming 2024 Pacific Championships.

With their sights set on defending their title after last year's shocking defeat against the Australian Kangaroos, the Kiwis have made a coaching change, with Stacey Jones taking the coaching reins from Michael Maguire.

In the midst of injuries to Dylan Brown and Kieran Foran, Jones hinted last week that he may consider bringing Johnson out of retirement to join the halves on the field.

Having hung up his boots on his NRL career at the end of this season, Johnson's last appearance for the Kiwis was back in 2019 when he scored a try against Great Britain in a 23-8 victory in Christchurch.

Addressing the speculation, Johnson made it clear that he would only return to play if Dally M favorite Jahrome Hughes is sidelined with an injury in the final two weeks of the season.
