Aussie footy fans, listen up! The lads over at sharks.com.au have spilled the beans on Cronulla's latest star in the making.

Young gun Sam Stonestreet has opened up about the secret behind his dazzling NRL debut on Sunday arvo.

Hailing from the Shire, Stonestreet has been a die-hard Sharks supporter since he was knee-high to a grasshopper.

And boy, did he make his mark on the field, scoring a cracking try in front of his mates and family as he lived out his childhood dream in the team's epic 42-6 victory over the Cowboys.

An up-and-coming winger with plenty of potential, the 21-year-old found his inspiration in none other than Cronulla legend Luke Covell.

The great man sent Stonestreet a ripper of a video message during the week, sparking a fire in the young rookie that led to a debut to remember.

When he's not tearing up the field, Stonestreet can be found hitting the books at the University of NSW, studying commerce like a true blue Aussie battler.

And let me tell you, this bloke is as tough as nails - he's not about to let anyone take his spot in the squad, even with Sione Katoa coming back from suspension for the upcoming banger against the Raiders down in Canberra.

Growing up playing footy for the De La Salle nursery in the Shire, Stonestreet had his fair share of challenges along the way.

But like any true blue Aussie, he didn't let it get him down.

Now, he's ready to take on whatever comes his way as he carves out his place in the footy world.

So, watch out for this young gun, folks.

He's the real deal, a rising star in the making.

And who knows, maybe one day we'll be talking about Stonestreet in the same breath as the legends of Rugby League history.

Go on, son!
