The Cronulla Sharks have officially announced the re-signing of KL Iro until the end of 2029, marking a significant milestone for the club.

Just weeks after securing Blayke Brailey's contract extension through to 2030, Iro has committed to the Sharks for an additional three seasons.

Brailey, who was already contracted until the end of 2026, will now remain with the Sharks, preventing the Perth Bears from acquiring another potential transfer target.

Despite spending a portion of this year sidelined due to injury, Iro has played a total of 35 NRL games, scoring 16 tries. His performance this season, both before and after his injury, has reached new heights.

At just 25 years old, Iro is an internationally recognized Cook Islands player who made his NRL debut in 2022. He had to wait until early in the 2024 season to secure his position as a permanent member of Craig Fitzgibbon's team.

Upon signing his contract, Iro expressed that there was a time he considered leaving the sport altogether.

"Four years ago, I was close to giving up footy, so to sign this contract is massive," Iro said.
