Sharks' Ramien Expresses Interest in NRL Expansion

Sharks centre Jesse Ramien, who hasn't secured a new contract beyond the end of the 2026 NRL season, has expressed interest in joining a potential NRL expansion side. As he is now eligible to speak with rival teams, Ramien becomes one of the first players to confirm his interest.

After coming close to being chosen by Brad Fittler for the NSW Blues, Ramien's future has been uncertain in recent months, leading to speculation that he may leave the Cronulla Sharks.

With salary cap issues and the rise of players like Michael Gabrael and Nikora Williams, Ramien faces the risk of being edged out of the Sharks. Consequently, he has been linked to several clubs as he seeks to continue his NRL career.

Recently, his chances with the North Queensland Cowboys diminished, but his manager revealed that Ramien is interested in playing for the PNG Chiefs, the prospective 19th team in the NRL.

"Jesse would definitely be keen on going to Papua New Guinea," his manager Trevor Conroy told The Courier-Mail.

"He has told me directly he would have no concerns at all about living in Port Moresby."
