The Cronulla Sharks, still buoyed by their surprising preliminary final appearance, are focused on enhancing their squad depth.

To strengthen their hooker and lock positions for 2026, the club has re-signed Jayden Berrell and Blake Hosking to one-year extensions following impressive performances in the NSW Cup.

Both players have been acknowledged for their consistency and leadership with Newtown Jets, the Sharks' feeder team, which clinched the NSW Cup title in 2024 and reached the finals again in 2025.

Berrell made his NRL debut in 2024 and has established himself as one of the most dependable players in the NSW Cup, earning accolades as Newtown's Player's Player and Best and Fairest twice.

Expressing his appreciation for the Sharks upon signing the extension, Berrell shared that he feels at home with the team.

"Cronulla gave me the opportunity four years ago to come down and have stuck with me," Berrell said.

"It's the best job in the world, I'm super stoked to be doing it again for another year."
