Sharks Confirm McInnes' ACL Rupture

The Cronulla Sharks have confirmed a full ACL rupture for middle forward Cameron McInnes.

The experienced State of Origin lock is a key player for Cronulla, but he now faces a recovery period of nine to twelve months following an injury sustained during Saturday's significant victory over the Gold Coast Titans.

As it is already mid-August, it seems unlikely that McInnes will be fit for the beginning of next season, with the most optimistic estimates suggesting he may be ready by mid-May.

This situation means he is set to miss at least the first ten rounds of the 2026 season, and any delays in recovery-which are not uncommon for injuries of this nature-could result in him being sidelined for most of the next season.

Previously, McInnes suffered an ACL rupture while playing for the St. George Illawarra Dragons, which caused him to miss the entire 2021 season.

This injury is a significant setback for Cronulla. As a leader in the forward pack known for his extensive playing time and defensive prowess, McInnes's absence will need to be addressed during this crucial phase of the regular season. Jesse Colquhoun is likely to be his most probable replacement as the team moves forward.
