Cronulla Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon has a clear and resolute message for the Perth Bears: acquiring the players is not going to be easy.
The Bears, led by the experienced Mal Meninga, are aggressively pursuing players as they prepare to join the NRL next season.
Already, the Bears have successfully signed two players from the Sharks: Tongan international Siosifa Talakai and Kiwi centre Chris Vea'ila.
Additionally, there are reports that co-captain Cameron McInnes and fullback Will Kennedy are also on the Bears' radar.
Cameron McInnes, 32, is currently recovering from an ACL injury and could serve as an ideal inaugural captain for the Bears.
"He's a terrific man, terrific leader," Fitzgibbon expressed prior to his team's upcoming match against the Sydney Roosters in Perth.
"He's coming back soon from an ACL injury, and just such a fantastic guy and leader that it'd be an asset for any club that he's at."
"He's definitely an asset for the Sharks, and it won't be without a fight."
On the other hand, Will Kennedy is among 13 Sharks set to become free agents at the end of the season, and the 28-year-old is considering options beyond Cronulla.
