In an unexpected twist, Sharks international utility back Siteni Taukamo has parted ways with the Cronulla Sharks to tackle a new challenge next season, despite attracting interest from four other teams and overseas clubs.

The 20-year-old rising star, who has yet to make his mark in first-grade NRL, played a crucial role in the Sharks' journey to the Jersey Flegg Cup Grand Final, where they were ultimately defeated by the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Taukamo, a former captain of the Harold Matthews Cup team, found himself unable to secure a spot in the NRL squad due to the abundance of talent in the outside backs department, with players like Liam Ison, Mawene Hiroti, Sam Stonestreet, and Kade Dykes dominating the field.

Despite ongoing talks to extend his tenure with the Sharks or potentially venture into the Super League abroad, Taukamo has opted to venture elsewhere while staying within the NRL ranks.

Exuding determination and resilience, Taukamo has inked a train and trial contract with the Newcastle Knights, ready to showcase his skills and make his mark in a new jersey.

While bidding adieu to the Shire, Taukamo is gearing up to conquer new territories and prove his mettle on the field in the upcoming season.
