In what can only be described as a nail-biter of negotiations, Cronulla Sharks' star forward Briton Nikora is currently in talks with the NRL team about extending his contract beyond the 2025 season.
Known for his prowess as an edge back-rower, Nikora has been a linchpin in the Sharks' recent successes, working seamlessly alongside Nicho Hynes and Teig Wilton.
Adept at finding gaps in the defense and making crucial offloads, the 26-year-old is at the peak of his career, easily ranking among the top five back-rowers in the league alongside powerhouses like Liam Martin, Jaydn Su'a, and Eliesa Katoa.
According to a report from The Daily Telegraph, the Sharks are pulling out all the stops to secure Nikora's services for another three seasons, keeping him in the fold until 2028.
As the countdown to November 1 looms, Nikora's status as a 12-time New Zealand Kiwis international has attracted interest from rival clubs eager to poach his talent.
But the Sharks are determined to keep their star player in the black, white, and blue jersey for the long haul, ensuring their edge remains as sharp as ever on the field.
